Breastfeeding support in the comfort of your own home

I help mom's breastfeed with confidence from the start and actually enjoy the newborn stage

Birmingham Lactation sets you up for feeding success – giving you the techniques, education, and support you need to meet your baby’s nutritional needs. Whether this is your first or third baby, I’m here to ensure you have the breastfeeding experience you desire for you and your family.

Latch & Positioning

Even when everything looks correct, pain or poor milk transfer often means that the latch or position needs adjusting. Discomfort beyond the early weeks or signs that milk isn’t moving well are usually clues that a small change in technique could make a big difference.

Is baby getting enough milk?

One of the most common questions parents have is whether their baby is getting enough to eat. Some weight loss in the first few days is normal, but babies should return to their birth weight within about two weeks. Steady weight gain and plenty of wet diapers are reassuring signs, but if growth seems off track, reach out to your lactation consultant for guidance.

Supply & Pumping

Your body’s milk supply naturally responds best to your baby’s needs. While pumps are useful tools, no device removes milk as efficiently as a nursing baby. If you rely heavily on pumping, it may take more effort to maintain your supply. Balancing direct breastfeeding with pumping can help keep milk production strong.

Comfort & Support

Breastfeeding isn’t only about nutrition—it’s also about connection and comfort. Skin-to-skin time, holding your baby close, and creating a calm environment all encourage effective feeding. Remember, your well-being matters too; when you feel supported and cared for, it’s easier to nurture your baby with confidence.

You're not doing anything wrong

Before we go any further, I just want to say this out loud — breastfeeding isn’t always easy.

You might’ve heard it’s natural, something you and your baby will just know how to do. But for most of us, it takes learning, practice, and a whole lot of support.

If it feels hard right now, that doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. You’re not failing. You’re not alone.

I’m here to help you make sense of it all — the latch, the pain, the questions, the worry. Together, we’ll take the pressure off, tune out the noise, and find a way forward that feels right for you and your baby.

You deserve to feel calm and confident in how you feed your little one — and I’d be honored to walk that path with you.

Thank you so much for all of the information and all your help. The support from you is like nothing I’ve ever felt and you make me feel like I can continue and it won’t always include crying. I appreciate you so so much and I seriously couldn’t have done it without you.

I wish I had known about you before I had my baby. I’m now realizing how bad the advice I got at the hospital was, how quickly they pushed me to supplement and didn’t support breastfeeding. Next baby will be different. I will have you from day 1!
